This magazine has knocked some of the others of their perch. It is brilliantly laid out. Its layouts are excellent. Its articles are well written and beautifully illustrated and it comes with a wealth of useful help and information. While it has a advertisement section, this is not bigger than the rest of the magazine. It also has some excellent videos and now supplies its own kit. An innovative magazine!

In the beginning, there was Railway Modeller. Use PECO products, stick it down with PVA glue....And for 40 years, it didn`t change. Well, that`s quite quaint, in its way, but in the meantime the world changed.New photographic techniques came along;Trainset modellers from the `60s became adults, and although their modelling standards improved, many of them were never able to devote their lives to their layouts(mortgages, children, etc....)These are the people Model Rail is aimed at. People who approach modelling from an aesthetic, rather than a clinically scale-accurate point of view. The man on the Clapham Omnibus. And so it has gone from strength to strength-increasing the frequency of publication by stages(albeit rapidly)until it has become what it is today. The monthly magazine of choice for the anonymous but ubiquitous "everyman" modeller. The best modelling magazine on the newsstand.
